Bidspirit auction | Victorian Hand-Painted Opaque Glass Mantle

Victorian Hand-Painted Opaque Glass Mantle Lustre - A Victorian-period mantle lustre, likely of Bohemian or Bristol origin, crafted from cream-coloured opaque glass. The vessel features a lobed and scalloped rim above a tapering body and a circular pedestal base. The exterior is decorated with hand-painted enamel floral sprays in shades of pink, blue, and green, further embellished with gilt scrollwork and trim. Suspended from the rim are multiple long, notched, and pointed clear cut-glass prisms attached by metal wires. The glass exhibits characteristics consistent with late 19th-century production and may contain uranium, typical of opaline glass from this era. Height: approximately 11.5 inches.
