Christopher Saxton (British, c. 1540-c. 1610) and William Kip (British, fl. 1585-1618) 'LINCOLNIA Comitatus vbi olim insiderunt CORITANI' (Signed) - Christopher Saxton (British, c. 1540-c. 1610) and William Kip (British, fl. 1585-1618). A hand-coloured engraved map on paper depicting the county of Lincolnshire, titled LINCOLNIA Comitatus vbi olim insiderunt CORITANI. The map features a decorative title cartouche in the upper left and a scale bar cartouche. Inscribed Christophorus Saxton descrip and William Kip sculp within the scale cartouche. This map was engraved by Kip after Saxton's earlier surveys for an edition of William Camden's Britannia, first published in this format in 1607. The work features hand-tinted highlights in green, yellow, and blue. It is presented under glass in a dark-toned frame with a narrow, beaded gilt inner border. 13 x 16 in.
