Bidspirit auction | Late Georgian English Flame Mahogany

Late Georgian English Flame Mahogany Chest of Drawers - This 19th-century English chest of drawers, dating from the late Georgian to early Victorian transition (circa 1830), is a fine example of period cabinetry. The primary timber is mahogany, featuring striking flame mahogany veneers across the drawer fronts. The configuration consists of two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, all featuring hand-cut dovetail construction and fine cockbeaded edges. The drawers are fitted with original turned mahogany knobs and simple brass escutcheons. The piece is supported by shaped bracket feet, characteristic of the early 19th century. While secondary woods are not visible, the flush-fitting drawers and overall weight suggest the use of pine or oak linings. No maker's labels or stamps are present. This chest represents the refined utility of English domestic furniture from the Regency era. Dimensions: H 105 cm x W 105 cm x D 52 cm.
