Bidspirit auction | A 19th Century Chinese Export

A 19th Century Chinese Export Rose Medallion Porcelain Plate - This fine example of Chinese export porcelain is decorated in the traditional Rose Medallion pattern, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. The plate features a central bird-and-flower medallion encircled by a gilt border, from which radiate four alternating reserves. Two reserves depict detailed domestic figurative scenes in interior settings, while the remaining two show avian and floral motifs. These panels are set against a characteristically dense ground of scrolling green foliage, butterflies, and pink peonies, finished with a gilt-edged rim. The piece is executed in hand-painted overglaze enamels from the Famille Rose palette. The reverse is finished in a plain white glaze and is typically unmarked, featuring an unglazed foot rim. Diameter: approximately 24 cm.
