Maritime School, 20th Century, Sailing Vessel at Sunset, Oil on Canvas - This maritime oil on canvas depicts a single-masted sailing vessel navigating turbulent green waters under a sky rendered in hues of orange and yellow. The work is executed in an impressionistic style with broad, textured brushwork used to define the waves and the lighting of the clouds. The painting is housed in a traditional gilt-finished moulded frame. The reverse of the work reveals an aged canvas on a four-member wooden stretcher with a metal hanging chain attached.
