Bidspirit auction | A late Victorian or Edwardian

A late Victorian or Edwardian dark-stained oak fan-back captain's armchair - A late Victorian or Edwardian period high-back armchair in the captain's or smoker's bow style. The piece is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood, identified through visual characteristics and market consensus as oak. The design features a fan-back composed of fourteen vertical slats that graduate in height towards the centre. Broad, out-swept arms terminate in scroll-form terminals and are supported by turned spindles. The chair is designed with a thick, contoured solid wood saddle seat and is raised on four ring-turned tapering legs. A small, rectangular white label is affixed to the left-most vertical slat of the backrest, although it does not contain legible text or branding. No discernible maker's names, factory marks, or stamps are visible on the frame.
