A Framed Shin-hanga Woodblock Print by Shoson of a Wagtail and Lotus - A framed woodblock print on paper depicting a bird-and-flower scene. The composition features a black and white wagtail perched on a slender lotus stem amongst large lotus leaves rendered with washes of pale blue and muted red colour. A lotus seed head is visible in the upper section. The work demonstrates fine line work and subtle colour gradations throughout. In the upper right corner, there are three vertically arranged characters painted in black reading 閑, 高, and 亭. In the lower right corner, there is a two-character vertical signature painted in black reading 祥村 (Shoson), positioned above a small red rectangular seal. The print is presented within an off-white paper mount and housed in a black-finished wooden frame under glass.
