Two Antique Weighing Scales including a Salter's Improved Spring Balance - This lot consists of two antique weighing scales: a circular spring balance and an iron steelyard. The circular spring balance features a circular brass dial face mounted to a black-painted iron housing with a heavy iron suspension loop at the top and a smaller ring fitting at the bottom. The brass dial is incised with the text SALTER'S IMPROVED SPRING BALANCE along the upper curve. Below the central pointer pivot, the dial is incised with the capacity TO WEIGH 200 LB. The face is graduated with numerical markings from 0 to 200, including legible numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, and 140. A white rectangular adhesive label is adhered to the dial face, reading 12851. The second item is a wrought iron steelyard scale comprising a long, rectangular-section notched beam, a heavy spherical iron poise weight, and various forged iron suspension and load hooks. Both items are constructed from iron and brass.
