A mid-20th-century British Railways metal hand-held signal lantern - A mid-20th-century British Railways hand-held signal lantern constructed from metal with a cream-coloured painted finish. The lantern features a large, circular convex glass lens to the front and a cylindrical top venting chimney equipped with a hinged lid. It is fitted with a wire bail handle for carrying. The letters BR are embossed in a sans-serif font onto the side of the chimney. A small, rectangular white adhesive label is attached to the side of the main body, bearing the handwritten characters 12870.
