Antique H. J & E. A. Boolds Ltd Devonport Cast Iron and Timber Laundry Mangle - An antique manual laundry mangle manufactured by H.J. & E.A. Boolds Ltd of Devonport. The machine features a cast iron frame finished in green paint with red accents on the embossed lettering. The arched top of the frame is inscribed with Devonport and H.J & E.A. Boolds Ltd. A circular manufacturer's medallion is located on the side frame. The unit is equipped with two large wooden rollers operated via a manual hand-crank wheel with a wooden grip. The drive system utilises a geared mechanism. At the top of the frame is a four-lobed tension adjustment screw mounted on a leaf spring assembly. The entire apparatus is set upon four small cast iron wheels for mobility.
