Victorian Cast Iron Arched Fireplace Hob Grate Insert - A Victorian cast iron arched fireplace insert of a type commonly used in 19th-century British domestic architecture. The front plate features a prominent arched opening with a continuous foliate and scroll-moulded border. The side jambs are decorated with recessed panels containing cast ribbon, bellflower, and floral motifs. The interior backplate is embellished with an ornate central medallion featuring a fan-shaped palmette motif surrounded by scrolling foliage. The unit is fitted with an integrated curved three-bar grate and is accompanied by a separate rectangular iron ash tray. The reverse of the casting bears several identifying marks, including the pattern number Nº 146 and the designation 22in - OP, alongside panels marked 28 in and 30 in, which refer to standardised frame sizing.
