Bidspirit auction | A Black Forest Style Carved
A Black Forest Style Carved Wooden Owl Aneroid Barometer - An early to mid-20th-century aneroid barometer housed in a hand-carved wooden case, likely oak or stained fruitwood. The case is designed with two perched owls featuring inset orange and black glass eyes, resting on a rustic, craggy base. The circular white dial features a central aperture exposing the internal aneroid mechanism and hairspring. Weather indications are printed in black and red Gothic-style script, reading Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, and Very Dry. The outer scale is graduated in inches of mercury from 28 to 31. The barometer retains a black indicator hand and a brass setting hand with a crescent-moon counterweight. The reverse of the metal movement casing is stamped with the characters S100. A metal suspension loop is fitted to the upper reverse for wall mounting.
