The box, dating from the 19th or early 20th century, is rectangular with a domed lid and finished in black lacquer. The exterior is decorated with gilt-painted scenes featuring figures in landscapes, floral borders, and decorative medallions. Faded gilt characters are present on the top surface. It features a simple metal lock plate, although no key is provided. The collection of jewellery primarily dates from the mid-20th century and includes brooches, pins, tie clips, and novelty badges. Materials include gold-tone and silver-tone base metals, multi-coloured rhinestones, aurora borealis stones, glass pastes, enamel, faux pearls, and molded resin. Notable items include a brass-tone book-shaped souvenir brooch for Chichester Cathedral, a red enamel Royal British Legion poppy pin, a Robertson's Golly enamel badge, and a Mickey Mouse novelty pin. Figural brooches in the collection include butterflies, a crescent moon set with multi-coloured stones, and a ballerina with a skirt of yellow aurora borealis rhinestones.
