A Collection of Vintage Wooden and Metal Woodworking Planes, Including Stanley Examples - A collection of vintage woodworking hand planes, comprising both traditional wooden-bodied and metal-bodied examples. The lot includes a metal smoothing plane with a black-painted cast-iron body, featuring the embossed name STANLEY on the front casting and a red-painted lever cap with black composite handles. A second metal plane is a Stanley Handyman model, identified by a red and white label on the lever cap and the embossed STANLEY mark on the casting. The wooden examples include a large bench plane with a hardwood body and wooden wedge, bearing a small adhesive label marked M511 S. An assortment of further wooden moulding and bench planes is housed within a grey plastic crate marked Property of Royal Mail Group plc. These traditional planes appear to be constructed from beech or a similar hardwood, characteristic of British tool manufacture from the late 19th to early 20th century. Materials include cast iron, steel, hardwood, and composite plastics.
