The London Mint Office 2020 Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Commemorative Coin Set - A complete commemorative coin collection titled The Battle of Britain, officially licensed by the Royal Air Force and issued by the London Mint Office in 2020 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the campaign. The collection is presented in a themed illustrated folder and includes six coins in total, each housed in a protective plastic capsule. The set features various designs celebrating the personnel and events of the Battle of Britain, including pilots, the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF), and the Royal Observer Corps. The set comprises one Victory Coin denominated as Two Crowns, struck in 9ct gold and featuring a Spitfire over the White Cliffs of Dover. It further includes four One Crown coins struck in tombac and layered in pure 24-carat Fairmined gold, with themes titled The Cockpit, Eyes on the Sky, The Dogfight, and The Blitz. A silver-toned Half Crown completes the collection, bearing the inscription Never was so much owed by so many to so few. Each coin bears the Raphael Maklouf effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse with the issuing authority of Gibraltar. The reverse of the gold and gold-layered coins bear the inscription This was their finest hour.
