A Trio of Works Comprising Two Japanese Woodblock Prints by Tokuriki Tomikichiro and Takeuchi Seiho and an Indian Miniature Painting - This lot comprises three framed works of art. The first is a mid-20th-century Japanese woodblock print by Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902-1999) titled Himeji Castle. The composition depicts the multi-tiered White Heron Castle in muted shades of green and grey, framed by stylized pine trees. The upper right corner features black ink characters identifying the location as Himeji Castle and the artist as Tomikichiro, accompanied by a red square artist's seal. A verso Certificate of Authenticity from the Japanese Gallery dates the piece to circa 1950. The second work is a Japanese woodblock print by Takeuchi Seiho (1864-1942) titled Three Insects. Executed in a minimalist Nihonga style, it features a stag beetle, a katydid, and a cricket. A red artist's seal is visible in the lower-left corner. A printed label on the reverse states that the piece was hand-printed from the original woodblocks in Japan in 1966. Documentation includes a Liberty of London receipt dated 5 July 2010. The third work is an Indian miniature painting rendered in gouache and gold on paper. It depicts an ornately decorated blue elephant adorned with a golden caparison and jewellery, set against a vibrant red background with a gold foliate border. The piece is housed in a stained wood frame with a gilded inner slip.
