A Pair of Framed Mid-20th-Century Needlework Pictures Depicting English Setters - A pair of framed mid-20th-century needlework pictures. Each rectangular piece depicts a single gundog, likely an English Setter, in a pointing stance within a stylised grass setting. The subjects are rendered in profile, one in white and lemon-tan thread and the other in white and black. The embroidery is worked in long and short stitches to simulate the texture of fur, using fine, high-sheen thread on a light-coloured silk or fine linen ground. The works are presented in dark-stained wooden frames with a simple stepped moulding. There are no visible signatures, maker's marks, or labels on the front or reverse of either piece.
