A Swiss Model 1918 Bayonet, Scabbard and Leather Frog - A Swiss military Model 1918 bayonet, a pattern issued for use with the Schmidt-Rubin K11 and K31 carbines. The bayonet features a straight, polished steel blade with a single deep fuller on both sides and a symmetrical spear point, which is sharpened on both edges for the final third of the blade length. The hilt comprises a steel crossguard with an integrated muzzle ring and contoured wooden grip scales secured to the tang by two rivets with slotted nuts. The steel pommel is shaped with a bird's head profile and contains a spring-loaded push-button catch for attachment to a rifle. The accompanying steel scabbard is finished with a ball-tip finial and a frog stud. The set includes a brown leather frog of stitched and riveted construction, fitted with a small retention strap and buckle. The reverse side of the leather frog is stamped with the characters J and M, with a fainter marking below that appears to read G.4.
