MAH JONGG Game SET + Books Wood/Brass Case 1920 - MAH JONGG Game SET + Books Wood/Brass Case 1920HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE Antique Mah Jongg set, hand made in China in the 1920’s. Box made of solid wood embellished with decorative brass plates, handles, catches and drawer pulls. Engraved with Chinese symbols on front painted in gold. Box measures 6.5” x 7.5” x 8”. Front panel slides up to remove and reveals five wooden trays, each with brass handle (3 have part of handle missing). Four of the trays measure 6.76” x 7.25” x 0.75” and store the tiles. The bottom tray measures 6.75” x 7.25” x 0.75” and stores the counters and extra tiles. There are a total of 144 tiles, 4 of which are blank tiles. Missing are: 4 dot, 9 bam, a flower and south. The blank tiles can be substituted for the missing tiles. The tiles are made of bone on bamboo and measure 1.5” x 0.875”. They are hand painted and coloring is still very bright. There are a total of 98 counters, painted with red and black and come in four sizes measuring from 3.75” to 2.25”. All tiles and counters in excellent condition. The front panel is showing some age as in the center piece has separated from the wooden edges.
