Hand Carved Ironwood Shark Figurine Statuette Circa 1984 - Carved in the early 80’s by a Seri artist named Alexandro Diaz, this ironwood sculpture depicts a shark in fluid motion, its elongated form suggesting effortless movement through water. This piece balances scale with precision, allowing the animal’spower and grace to emerge through live and silhouette. The dense ironwood is smoothly finished revealing a deep natural luster and subtle grace. Restrained carving and flowing contours emphasize continuity of form and sense of propulsion.Both sculpture and culturally significant, this work stands as a strong example of late 20th century Seri ironwood carvings.Dimensions: Excluding the fins, 2” wide, 12”long and the tail curves upward to a height of 5”.Condition: Excellent, No marks, or cracks Condition: Good condition.
