Exceptionally Rare Japanese Dirk -WW2 -ARMY AIR FORCE Dagger - Rare World War II Japanese Army Air Force dirk--among the rarest Japanese dirks.The Tokubetsu Joint/Combined Army Navy Air Group Dirk is discussed on pages 10 & 11 of Kenneth Banks reference book ”Japanese Pattern Dirks--The Banks Collection”. This dirk measures 13 1/4” overall. The blade itself measures 8 5/16”. The G.I. that brought this dirk back scratched his nickname 'RED' lightly on the saya. An extremely rare dirk for any collection. CONDITION: Excellent condition. The handle wire is intact and all fittings are in excellent condition. The blade's acid-etched yakiba (hamon) is visible on 80% of both sides of the blade. There are small darkened areas toward the blade tip where there is some plating loss.
