Rare 19th C. Islamic Ottoman ''SOSUN-PATA'' Shamshir / Yatagan Sword with Fine ''Turkish Ribbon'' Damascus Blade & Lovely Carved Horn Grip. - Rare 19th C. Islamic Ottoman ''SOSUN-PATA'' Shamshir / Yatagan Sword with Fine ''Turkish Ribbon'' Damascus Blade & Lovely Carved Horn Grip. A highly unusual and fine saber of Ottoman origin, having steel mounts with a shamshir style cross guard and very nicely carved grip of solid bull horn piece. Wearing a very distinctively shaped broad single edged blade of re-curved Yatagan-stile form, exhibiting nice light patina with small areas of very fine pitting, the core of the blade showing exquisite Turkish Ribbon Damascus patterns. Solid and overall intact on this awesome and rare example, housed in its original leather over wood scabbard with steel mounts en suite to the hilt, and coiled silver wire seam of so-called ”Steps of Allah” style, short wire section lacking.Total Length (inside scabbard if present) : 34 1/2” Blade length : 27” Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
