Austrian Alois Schonn Oil On Canvas Landscape Painting - Antique oil on canvas landscape painting by listed Austrian artist Alois Shonn ( 1826-1897). Unframed. Signed en verso. Size: 10 3/8” x 8 3/8” Unframed. Alois Schonn was born in 1826 and died 1897. Born in Vienna, Alois Schonn studied the technique of engraving from 1841-42 and history painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under the guidance of Joseph von Führich and Eduard van der Null from 1845-48. He painted his first battle paintings during the Italian campaign. In the course of his many trips, he specialized in oriental genre scenes.In the 1860s, he became a member of the association of Fine Arts in Vienna and the Vienna Academy as well as professor of the Academy.The Schönngasse in Vienna is named after him. Today, works by the artist are part of numerous museum collections, including the Heeresgeschichtliche Museum and the Wien Museum. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
