19th Century Japanese Samurai Matchlock Pistol Family Mon / Tanegashima - Compact Japanese hinawaj (matchlock) pistol Family Mon in traditional Tanegashima form, built with a dark hardwood stock and a heavily brass-mounted matchlock mechanism. The lock displays a serpentine match holder, pan area with cover, and long brass operating arms. The iron barrel is robust with a faceted/octagonal profile, showing an applied vent/pan reinforcement panel (light-toned inset surrounding the touch-hole area) and a small raised barrel lug/sight block forward of it. A brass barrel/breech band secures the junction at the stock, with additional brass fittings along the lock and underside. This is a strong display piece with classic materials and proportions brass against aged iron and polished wood epresentative of Japanese matchlock sidearms made for carry and personal defense.
