Very Fine Edo era Japanese Samurai YARI Spear Koshira with Fabulous Lacquered Finish Including Gold Family Mon Crests to Very Long Shaft - Japanese yari spear comprised of a long, lacquered pole (ebony/black ground with gold ”nashiji”/speckled-style decoration and scrolling motifs) fitted with multiple metal collar mounts. The weapon retains its steel yari head with faceted, double-edged blade and a robust socketed mount to the shaft. Accompanied by a matching lacquered saya/scabbard, similarly decorated with gold speckling and scrolling designs, including a circular cartouche-style motif. The lower end of the pole terminates in a metal ishizuki (butt cap) with a shaped finial. This is an attractive display example combining traditional yari form with highly decorative lacquer work and a fitted scabbard very good wall or stand display presence.
