Excellent Edo Period Japanese Wakizashi Sword with Decorative Saya and Kogatana - Edo period Japanese Wakizashi sword in nice mounted fittings, featuring single-edged curved steel blade with a long fuller/hi and clean, even surface finish, mounted in fitted koshirae. The sword is housed in a brown-and-black patterned lacquered wooden saya (scabbard) with an inset side panel/pocket, accompanied by a matching kogatana (small utility knife) with inscribed tang. Fittings include a brass/copper habaki, a dark circular tsuba with contrasting brass-toned rim, and a ribbed brown grip with dark collar and end cap. The grip is further decorated with a linked trio of hexagonal brass plaques bearing character motifs. Total length (inside scabbard if present) : 25 3/8”, Blade length : 17 1/4”. ~ .
