WW2 Original Soviet Russian Gold ORDER of GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR 1st cl.#5919, Rare Type 1 - WW2 Original Soviet Russian Gold ORDER of GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR 1st cl.#5919, Rare Type 1 First Class. Type 1. Order badge on suspension mount. Variant 2 The badge consists of three principal components: Primary element — a five-pointed enamel star with a circular central medallion bearing the inscription ”Patriotic War”. This part is made of silver. Second element — an underlying five-pointed radiant (strahl) gold star with crossed saber and rifle. The gold fineness of the radiant star is 583. Third element — the gold hammer and sickle applied to the central circular medallion of the enamel star. A fourth component may be considered the suspension mount with a silver threaded post and screw nut for fastening. Reverse characteristics On the reverse, the gold radiant star features a circular aperture 16.5 mm in diameter. Through this opening, the outer silver portion of the order is visible. Within this aperture, on the silver star, are located two rivets securing the hammer and sickle device. There is no mint mark on the reverse of the badge. The serial number is located on the reverse of the gold star at approximately the 7 o’clock position. The number is engraved by hand with a burin and arranged diagonally from top to bottom. The suspension mount is fitted with a round screwback nut 25 mm in diameter. The nut bears the hallmark ”MONETNYJ DVOR” in raised letters arranged in two lines. On the reverse, a vertical pin is soldered to the radiant star to provide additional attachment of the order to clothing (soldered at the 12 o’clock position).
