WWII Soviet Russian Partizan of the Patriotic War Medal , First Class, Var 2 - WWII Soviet Russian Partizan of the Patriotic War Medal , First Class The Medal ”Partisan of the Patriotic War” became the first of only two Soviet medals divided into classes. The second such medal appeared only in 1974 — the Medal For Distinction in Military Service. The design of the Medal ”Partisan of the Patriotic War” was created by the artist N. I. Moskalev. The design was derived from an unrealized project for a medal commemorating the ”25th Anniversary of the Soviet Army.” This is a second variation - The suspension loop is attached by soldering. On the obverse, Lenin is depicted with an upturned (”snub”) nose, while Stalin’s nose has a noticeable hump. The tip of Lenin’s beard is curved downward.
