Soviet Russian Badge of Honour, Type 3, Variant 5 - Soviet Russian Badge of Honour, Type 3, Variant 5 Type 3. Suspension variant with five-sided mount. Smooth reverse. The third type of the Order ”Badge of Honour” was issued from 19 June 1943 until the early 1950s. The badge consisted of the same components as the second type. The principal difference from Type 2 was the presence of a suspension mount (and, naturally, the absence of a threaded post on the reverse). In addition, on the obverse of suspension types (Type 3, Type 4, and the later Order of Honour), the triangular segment between the figures of the worker and the kolkhoz woman formed part of the enamel obverse. In screwback types, this area was cut out, allowing the smooth reverse surface to be visible. The letters ”CCCP” on suspension types are thicker than on screwback versions. The hallmark ”MONETNYJ DVOR” is executed in two lines in incuse letters. The serial number was engraved by hand with a burin and positioned horizontally above the lower rivet (at the 6 o’clock position). Variant 5. The hallmark is located in the center of the reverse. Both words of the hallmark are straight, without curvature, and applied with a single punch. The length of the word ”MONETNYJ” is 12 mm (large hallmark). The letter ”M” in the word ”MONETNYJ” is larger than the other letters. Depending on the detailing of the figures of the worker and the kolkhoz woman on the obverse, two sub-varieties of the fifth variant can be distinguished. Sub-variant 2. The worker’s head is slightly reduced in size, and the facial features appear more mature. The neckline of the overalls becomes rounded. The fingers of the raised hand are semi-bent, and the kolkhoz woman grasps the flagpole from the inside. These characteristics of the figures are also typical of the subsequent type of the order.
