Soviet Russian Gold & Platinum ORDER of LENIN ,Number 237820, Type 5, Var 1 - Soviet Russian Gold & Platinum ”ORDER of LENIN”, Number 237820 The fifth type of the order was awarded from the 1950s until the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. The vertical dimension of the badge is slightly greater than that of the previous type, and its overall outline approaches an oval form. Variant 1 - Hallmark: ”LENINGRADSKIJ MONETNYJ DVOR”. This variant was produced at the Leningrad Mint. The hallmark is executed in raised letters and positioned in the upper part of the circular recess on the reverse, arranged in three lines. The word ”LENINGRADSKIJ” is curved along the upper boundary of the recess (from approximately the 10 to 2 o’clock positions). The words ”MONETNYJ ” and ”DVOR” are written horizontally, one beneath the other. The upper rivet (at 12 o’clock) is located between the words ”LENINGRADSKIJ” and ”MONETNYJ ” Depending on the method of execution and placement of the serial number, the following sub-varieties can be distinguished. Sub-variant 1 The serial number is applied with stamped digits. Sub-variant 1a The number is located beneath the two lower rivets (at approximately the 5 and 7 o’clock positions).
