Russian Soviet WWII Two Orders and One Early Medal - Lot of Russian Soviet WWII Two Orders and One Early Medal 1. Order of Red Star. Number 2258552. Type 4, Variant 2,Variety 4. Orders of the fourth variety were produced at the Moscow Mint in 1945–1946. The Mint mark is of medium size. The width of the word ”MONETNYJ ” is approximately 8.4 mm, the height of both words of the mint mark is approximately 4.7 mm, and the height of the letters in the word ”MONETNYJ ” is approximately 1.6 mm. Variant 2. Orders of the second variant were produced at the Moscow Mint and at the Moscow factory ”PLATINOPRIBOR” (only Variety 5) from 1944 to 1952. The edge of the order is angled relative to the surface of the obverse and reverse, and from the obverse side the edge is clearly visible. Many badges of the second variant have a noticeable depression on the reverse at the point where the lower rays converge, in the projection of the hammer and sickle. However, the size of the depression (diameter and depth) is not a constant feature and varies among different badges. On some badges the depression may be completely absent. The Mint mark is stamped in two lines and is located at the base of the upper ray of the star, or slightly below the base., 2. Order of Patriotic Star of Second Class, Number 557147. Type 2, Variant 3 Type 2 – the badge of the order consists of two parts. The first, main part is a ten-pointed silver star (the enameled and the radiant five-pointed stars are combined into a single element). The second part is the applied golden hammer and sickle. The third component can be considered the round fastening screw plate, 33 mm in diameter, which screws onto a silver threaded post soldered in the center of the reverse. There are no inscriptions on the screw plate. On the reverse there are two copper rivets holding the hammer and sickle. The rivets are located in the center of the reverse, on either side of the threaded post (at approximately 2 and 8 o'clock positions). Variant 3. Unlike the second variant, both words of the mint mark are straight, without curvature. The mint mark is of medium size. As in the previous variant, the serial number sequence was not continuous, and the orders were produced in batches. The serial number gaps between these batches are filled by production from other Mints. 3 - Medal for Valor. Type 1. Variant 4. Type 1. Rectangular suspension. From the moment of its establishment on October 17, 1938, and until the decree of June 19, 1943, the first type of the medal ”For Valor” was awarded. The medal had a rectangular suspension with a slotted frame in the lower part. The suspension was covered with a red ribbon. The upper end of the ribbon was folded over the upper edge of the suspension, and the lower end of the ribbon passed through the slot in the lower part of the suspension. In the first variant of the medal the ribbon was secured to the suspension with a thin rectangular plate with a hole in the center and four prongs along the edges. In the second and subsequent variants of this type the ribbon was secured to the suspension with a rectangular plate with a hole in the center (but without prongs) and a small hexagonal nut. On the reverse side of the suspension there was a threaded post and a round fastening screw plate for attaching the medal to clothing. The suspension loop of the medal is made of silver and attached to the medal by soldering. The serial number of the medal is located in the lower part of the reverse and is positioned horizontally. Variant 4. Similar to the previous variant, however the medal is thin. The thickness of the medal is approximately 2.6 - 2.8 mm. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
