WILBUR NIEWALD (1925-2022) STRAWBERRY HILL OIL/CANVAS - Wilbur Niewald (1925-2022) Across the Kaw (Strawberry Hill) Circa 1965. This early to mid 1960s abstracted landscape by one of Kansas City's most prominent and influential artist/educators is signed and titled verso on the stretcher in felt tip marker. The title and the topography of this composition are grounds for suggesting that the view depicted here is that of Kansas City Kansas' Strawberry Hill neighborhood just across the river from Kansas City, Missouri. The terrain there rises abruptly from the banks of the Kaw, and the hillside is dappled with rows of houses and partially visible rooftops of structures obscured by the foliage of summertime trees and vegetation. Canvas measures 39 x 48 with a framed size of 40 x 49 inches. Without proof of exemption, be aware that internet sales tax applies to all Internet transactions and local sales tax may apply to local pick-up transactions. We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell. Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house. Condition: Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up. The final layer of artist's medium has contracted to the degree that a network of fissures similar to craquelure have emerged. The effects of this are natural to the process, not a factor of age or issue.
