AUGUSTUS WENDEROTH (1819-1884) OIL ON CANVAS - Frederick August Wenderoth (1819-1884) Nobility on Horseback 1849 The elaborate composition, skillfully painted with a high degree of precision and detail, is signed and dated lower right. Similar compositions by Wenderoth have been recorded, but these have fewer figures and less striking detail. Even the castle and veranda seen through the background foliage is an unusual extra feature found only in this composition. The work is displayed in the original lemon gilt frame. Canvas measures 32 x 25.5 with a framed size of 43 x 36.25 inches.
