LEON BIBEL (1912-1995) SURREALIST OIL ON CANVAS - Leon Bibel (1912-1995) The Cubist leaning composition of surrealistic portrayal of industrialization is signed lower left front and is stamped 'From the Estate of Leon Bibel' verso on the canvas. Polish-American painter, printmaker and sculptor Leon Bibel was a Social Realist who deployed his art to focus on the struggles of workers, and the politics of protest during the Great Depression. He was an active participant in the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project at the Harlem Community Center in New York. Canvas measures 25 x 20 with a framed size of 27 x 22 inches.
