CLAYTON STAPLES (1892-1978) LANDSCAPE WITH BIRCH - Clayton Henri Staples (1892-1978) Landscape with Birch Third quarter of the 20th century. The watercolor on paper mountain view with birch along a dirt road is signed lower left front. Clayton Staples spent many summers teaching and painting in Gloucester. He is also credited with establishing the Fine Arts program at Wichita State University during his tenure there from 1930 to 1950, after which he moved to Colorado. Sight size measures 18 x 23 with a framed size of 30.75 x 35.75 inches.
