Soldier's Farewell) 1943 The lithograph published by Associated American Artists in an edition of 250 prints is signed by Benton in pencil below the image lower right and listed as Fath catalog number 58. A fine, dark impression. Benton's comments on this image in Fath reads: Soldier leaving a small plains town. This letter was also called 'Going West' which in soldiers argot meant going to die. The secondary title was dropped during the war years. Drawing of water tank, track and station made in late 1942. Also called 'Soldiers Farewell.' Image measures 9 x 13.5, sheet is 12.5 x 15.75 inches.
