CHARLES BANKS WILSON (1918-2013) RARE 1941 LITHOGRAPH - Charles Banks Wilson (Oklahoma, 1918-2013) Visiting Indians 1941 The lithograph, numbered 9 from an edition of only 30 prints, is signed by Wilson in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left, Hunt number 22. A fine, dark impression. This marks the first appearance of this rare lithograph at auction, according to records on all four major art auction databases, and the major online bidding platforms. Charles Banks Wilson personally bore witness to the Native American culture and traditions he portrayed in his art. This authenticity and the rarity of these early low edition prints makes them very desirable, particularly in the condition found here. Wilson's comments on this image in Hunt read: 'The old car got visitors to the powwow - but would it get them back home? I had intended to concentrate on the young boy practicing for an afternoon of ceremonial dancing but soon realized there was more to the scene than that.'
