The still life composition of disparate visions is signed lower right front. While not a formal movement, there was something of a tradition for surrealist painting in and around Chicago throughout the first half of the 20th century. It's interesting how so many artists, including Aaron Bohrod, Gertrude Abercrombie, Ivan Albright, Julia Thecla (represented elsewhere in this sale) and others painted surrealist themes based on subconscious dreams and fantastic imagery, as in this painting.
