The allegory of Adam and Eve, with added symbolism that only Arthur Kraft could conjure, is signed lower right front. All indications are that works from before around 1948 are signed Art Kraft, as seen here, and works after 1948 are simply signed Kraft or, later, A Kraft. A poem written on the painting medium, visible through a window in the backing board, reads: ''Farewell - My Lovely, ' May this remind you, when blackness has obscured truth, that whatever elements destroy me, you are forever a part of my spirit.
