Charles Ragland Bunnell (1897-1968) Crows 1959 The Modernist depiction of abstracted birds, Crows as the title states, is signed and dated lower right front. The artist Charles Bunnell was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1897. He studied at the Broadmoor Art Academy (now the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center) and taught at the Kansas City Art Institute during the summers of 1929, '30, '40 and '41. His work is included in the collection of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, During the depression, he won a mural commission from the Public Works of Art Project and created easel paintings for the WPA.
