Birger Sandzen (Kansas, 1871-1954) - BIRGER SANDZEN (1871-1954) RARE PENCIL SIGNED LINOCUT. Birger Sandzen (Kansas, 1871-1954) Sunflowers (a.k.a. Kansas Sunflowers) 1933 The rare and desirable linocut image of the iconic Kansas state flower was published in an edition of 100 prints signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left, Greenough number 72. A second edition of this print in horizontal format was pulled in an edition of 500. This particular print is a fine and rare example in exceptional condition, The strong, well-inked impression doesn't appear to have ever been framed, and therefore never subjected to acidic matting or other harmful effects of exposure and framing. Image measures 12 x 8.75, sheet is 15 x 12, mat is 20 x 16 inches.
