Jackson Lee Nesbitt (1913-2008) The Goose 1939 The etching, numbered 45 from an edition of 100 prints, is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left, Retif catalog number 17. Nesbitt's comments in the catalog raisonne read: 'I originally did this picture of some good-natured horseplay at the end of a shift as a kind of joke. But the company liked the idea and they asked me to proceed with the edition. It is the only Sheffield etching for which I did a related painting. The painting was hung in the employee's recreation room for many years. Needless to say, this one was not used as a Christmas card.' Plate measures 11.75 x 9 with a framed size of 21.75 x 17.75 inches.
