Bertha Jaques was a pioneering figure in American printmaking instrumental in promoting etching as a serious art form in the United States. In 1909 she co-founded the Chicago Society of Etchers. Her works are represented in major museum collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
