CHIKUUNSAI I BAMBOO HANAKAGO WITH TRAY, ADAIR ESTATE - The exceptional ikebana basket with original tomobako and copper tray liner is of expansive, flared form constructed in three distinct horizontal registers executed in a very fine twilled plaiting that transitions into a mid-section of fine hexagonal plaiting which culminates in a beautifully wrapped rim of undulating openwork, joining a graceful 'twisted rope' motif handle bound with stylized rattan butterfly knots - all in a deep warm mahogany patina. The base is worked with a star support having an incised signature splat. Basket measures 10 x 14.25 inches in diameter. Box is 14 x 15.25 x 15.2.5 inches.
