A PAIR OF CHINESE QING HONGMU SPINDLE-BACK ARMCHAIRS - The pair with humpback toprail and eight gently curved vertical spindles and rear posts have stepped armrests supported by five straight spindles joining the frame of a drop panel seat supported by squared legs with stretchers and a foot rest to the front while stretchers join the sides and rear. The underside of the seat is sealed with a black varnish and old cloth strips covered in pitch at the joints. Measures 38.5 h x 22 x 16 inches.
