A PAIR 18C. JAPANESE SHOKUNIN ZUKUSHI SLEEPING SCREENS - Two companion screens, each with six panels painted in inks and colours on squared paper, most likely mulberry bark paper, with shokunin zukushi subjects, that is Illustrations of people of various occupations in their work shops, depicting textile weaving and decoration. The panels are within modern brocaded silk surrounds and mounted on a black lacquered wood support, The reverse is mounted with a squared paper backing in silver paint, decorated in aquatic subjects of koi, crabs and other marine creatures. The mounts are later than the paintings per usual. Each screen measures 24.25 x 85.5 inches.
