TANABE CHIKUUNSAI I BAMBOO IKEBANA BASKET, ADAIR ESTATE - The complex open-work hexagonal weave in colors like a tiger skin creates a delicate geometric mesh in an airy weave divided by vertical stays finished in extremely complex braiding that runs the full height of the body. The architectural handle is divided into multiple supports finished in complex wraps and braids, including ribbon and plum blossom lacing. The base is exceptionally detailed, featuring a reinforced foot with a decorative ''checkered'' or ''block'' weave band at the very bottom. Accompanied by its original blackened bamboo liner (otoshi) and its signed paulownia wood storage box (tomobako), this basket is an outstanding example with fine color and patina. Basket measures 19.75 x 6.5 x 6.5 inches.
