A FINE LARGE EARLY 19TH CENTURY JAPANESE KARUMA DANSU - The handsome chest on wheels with sliding drawers is attributed to the Nagai, Yamagata region by John Adair. He identifies the wood as chestnut or 'Kuri.' Each front door and both ends are constructed with horizontal slatting and the mortise-and-tenon case is mounted in iron strapwork. The doors open to a paulownia wood interior with shelves and drawers. Measures 44.5H x 47.5W x 20 inches.
