TANABE CHIKUUNSAI HEXAGONAL PLAIT BASKET, ADAIR ESTATE - The high-shouldered bell-form basket is woven in a complex open-work hexagonal plait that creates a net-like body with precise horizontal bands of twining and tightly woven braided vertical stays that meet with sculptural loop knotting where the handle meets a gnarled twig rim. The high, arched handle is composed of layered bamboo slats meticulously bound with segmented circular wrapping. The basket stands on a rope-twist corded foot-ring. The original paulownia wood storage box with the artist's signature, and its original hand-turned wooden liner are included. Basket measures 19 x 11 x 11 inches.
