TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II WOVEN HANGING BASKET, ADAIR ESTATE - The finely woven Japanese bamboo basket features a dramatic ''trumpet'' or ''morning glory'' silhouette on narrow hexagonal base below a massive horizontally flared rim. The body is constructed using an open hexagonal weave in fine split thread-like bamboo material supported by six braided vertical stays. The high, sweeping handle is composed of layered bamboo slats secured with intricate plum-blossom and cross-pattern knots. A small woven loop at the apex of the handle allows the piece to be either seated on a floor or hung. The color is a warm, honey-gold patina. Accompanied by its original paulownia wood storage box. Basket measures 9.5 x 13.25 x 13.25 inches.
